Here are some of my Recent Commissions:

I've found that, generally, I end up using my customer's own family photo's when painting their children- that's probably because kids are more relaxed and natural without me hanging around with my camera.

On the other hand, buildings and other scenes look their best if I hang around until I get their angles just right and the light is perfect so that's when I tend to go and take my own reference photos....

for a couple who have
loved their walks on

Fountainstown beach.

a couple of times -
but one more
time for a mum's
special birthday!

Three Castle Head.

I haven't been there yet

an adventurer.

Picture

A great shot,

Cute little ruined

A gift from
a golfer
to
herself!

Picture
This is a view of Fennell's Bay,
seen through the reeds
which pop up every summer
and add a little extra
interest to the walk along
the rocks from
Myrtleville.

The painting was
commissioned as a
wedding present for
someone who has
spent childhood
summers here.
Perhaps they once
                                                                         played amongst those maize-like reeds?

Picture
This snapshot
of a little boy was

to remind her
of special times.

Picture
This was

from a group of
friends to a
girl who was

Australia -
something to help
her remember
happy times
growing up in
her family home.

Picture
This one was
 a surprise
Christmas present
from a dad
to a mum,
two little boys -
on the
lookout for
dolphins
on a sunny
summer
 morning.

Picture
This was
a parting gift
from the
parishioners of
Templebreedy church
to their much-loved
organist and
 choir master
who was heading off
to live in Spain
with her new
husband.

Picture
This was a wedding
present for
a bride who
had grown up
in Crosshaven -
and it was important
for her that
both the church
where she was
married, and
the school that
attended, should
be in the
picture!

Picture
This was a
Retirement Present
from a local
Community Group
to one of their founding
members.
It's a view of his house
and surrounding
countryside -
it was a surprise,
so I had to make
sure he wasn't around,
before sneaking up
the back to take a picture!

Picture
This was an unusual one -
I took some photo's of
 a chough I'd seen near
 Fennell's Bay and
showed them  to a friend,
who then commissioned
me to paint a picture for
 her daughter and
 son-in-law in Canada
who happen to be
big chough fans!

Picture

This is an old town
house in Listowel,
Co. Kerry.
The painting was
commissioned by a
Cork city company
as a retirement gift
for an employee, who's
family home this was.

His retirement plans
included spending
lots more time there -

hope he's having
happy times there
now - and that the sun's
shining like it was the
day I travelled down
to beautiful Listowel
                                                                             to take some photos!

Picture
This one was painted for a Russian lady
who fancied the idea of a picture of
an Irish pub!
As she'd never actually been to Ireland,
and probably wouldn't be checking
out if this was a genuine pub
I allowed myself  free reign with the
colour scheme...
I even imported the gentleman with
the newspaper from a photo
I'd taken in Listowel.

Picture
This was an unusual one for me,
as I don't usually like doing portraits...

A special request from the husband
of a very old friend,
to remember a moment in time
long ago...
and far away.....

But the good news is:
they're still together -
and have just celebrated
a pretty special
Anniversary!
